Multi énergies

We have discovered some of the most productive fields in the world, our refineries have manufactured increasingly sophisticated products and our extensive distribution network has rolled out an ever-expanding range of services. Our Company culture has been forged from the ground up, underpinned by an unwavering commitment to safety and performance. Throughout our extensive history, TotalEnergies has frequently crossed paths with two other oil companies, one French – Elf Aquitaine – and the other Belgian – Petrofina. Sometimes competitors, sometimes partners, we eventually amalgamated our wealth of expertise and experience with a shared agreement that the future requires an inclusive and collective approach to both people and environment.

On May 28th, 2021, Total evolved into TotalEnergies, a broad energy company driven by a powerful ambition: to be a world-class player in the energy transition towards greater sustainability and to achieve, together with society as a whole, carbon neutrality in all its global activities by 2050.

TotalEnergies produces and markets fuels, natural gas and electricity. We are currently the world's second largest privately owned Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) player with over 100,000 employees active in more than 130 countries. We maintain strong and diversified positions throughout the LNG value chain: gas production and liquefaction, LNG transportation and trading, and contribution to the development of the LNG industry for maritime transport. TotalEnergies is committed to producing and providing energies that are ever more affordable, reliable and clean, transforming our business activities to deliver tangible and long-term solutions to address a dual challenge: more energies, less emissions.

Our vision for 2050 involves pushing for a significant change to the energy mix. Part of the solution to moving the energy transition forward lies in the soaring development of new molecules (biofuels and biogas, clean hydrogen, and synthetic fuels combining hydrogen and carbon), which we are actively pioneering while prioritizing circular resource practices.

The other pathway to achieving the energy transition involves switching over from fossil fuels to electricity, which requires a tremendous increase in the amount of green electrons. TotalEnergies is developing its presence across the entire renewable electricity chain (production, storage, trading and sales). We are aiming to achieve our goal of becoming one of the world's top five producers of solar and wind energy by 2030.
