TotalEnergies participates in 17th Papua New Guinea Resource and Energy Investment Conference and Exhibition
Sydney, Australia
TotalEnergies EP PNG was proud to participate as a platinum principal sponsor in the 17th Papua New Guinea Resources and Energy Investment Conference in Sydney, Australia. This prestigious event provided an invaluable opportunity for TotalEnergies, as the Operator of the Papua LNG, to showcase how the Project is a catalyst to enhance the socio-economic development of Papua New Guinea and its people.
The conference served as a platform to highlight the Project’s commitment to sustainability, carbon footprint optimization, and biodiversity considerations, reinforcing its potential to be a landmark project in these respects.
Our SVP APC Mr. Thomas Maurisse presented the TotalEnergies Perspective in the Global Trends in Energy and PNG. Public Affairs Manager Mr. Richard Kassman presented on behalf of TotalEnergies EP PNG, giving an overview of the Papua LNG project and covering the community initiative aspects of the Project.
TotalEnergies was also honored with the ‘Outstanding Environmental and Climate Change Initiative’ Industry Award, a recognition that underscores the organization’s commitment to promoting environmentally friendly activities and developing climate change mitigation initiatives. This accolade was bestowed upon TotalEnergies for our Zero Net Deforestation Program, a testament to our dedication to environmental preservation. The program includes seedling nursery plantations in Kuriva and Brown River, as well as a Mangrove nursery in Caution Bay, all aimed at promoting biodiversity and offsetting carbon emissions. In addition to these initiatives, TotalEnergies also commissioned a solar farm for the Kuriva school, aid post, and community, further demonstrating our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Since 2022, in line with our #NetZeroDeforestation policy we have worked with partners on the ZND project that includes a suite of programs designed to deliver enduring environmental and social benefits for the communities and the Project and is committed to inclusive development.
The conference also served as a strategic platform for promoting and attracting responsible investment in Papua New Guinea’s resources sector. TotalEnergies holds a strong view of PNG as a worthy and attractive investment destination. The country’s rich resources and potential for growth make it a compelling choice for investors and it is expected to continue to attract and retain investment, especially within the resources sector. A belief that further underscores TotalEnergies’ commitment to the country’s development, through the Papua LNG project.
